Brain Break

Chilling at the River

Chilling at the River

Usually on Sundays, I post a what’s in a weave post, explaining a different silk weaving technique. But today, my brain is broken. So here’s what happened. Friday night, the boyfriend had insomnia. Which means I had insomnia. It’s not that he was trying to wake me up, he truly wasn’t, I’m just that light a sleeper, so every time he got up, I woke up. So I only got about 4.5 hours of sleep Friday night. And Saturday I had to be up at 5am for my Saturday job, which isn’t really, more of a hobby so I can keep my birds in bird food and banana chips. And walnuts.

So 4.5 hours of sleep, followed by a photo shoot with some of the best friends a small business owner could ask for, who were willing to model for me in exchange for free clothes made of silk. No rest for the wicked after that as I had to fix some holes in the boyfriends pants for the Dragonforce concert in Reno last night (Claymore, Starkill, Dance with the Dead, Dragonforce.) Hell of a good concert but we were both so wiped out I’m pretty sure we both fell asleep at one point during the concert….which is saying something since it was all metal, which isn’t exactly Brahm’s lullaby.

We rolled in about midnight and I thought for sure we’d both sleep at least a solid 6 hours before having to feed the menagerie. But our boy, pictured here, is getting old and has diabetes, so he decided he really needed to go out…twice…this is why I am a light sleeper. So I can get up for doggo emergencies. Then about 5am I woke up all on my own with a screaming tension headache. So I forced myself out of bed for some aspirin, was in bed for no more than 15 minutes when Rusty the Rescue Cat decides he’s ready to come in from his night time hunting forays. At this point I’m pretty sure I’m done as far as sleep goes, but surprisingly, the menagerie let me sleep to the decadent hour of 6:45am before purring me awake. It was the nicest wake up I’ve had in a long time.

Rolled out of bed, made a trip to my parents house to work on a woodworking project with my dad (I have too many hobbies…) and on my way home, I lost my clutch. One mile from my house. So I paid $88 to tow my car one mile. Frankly, I lack the mental function to explain a silk weave today. So I am taking a brain break today from looking up and explaining new information. I’ll try again next week.
