Ask for Anything But Time
Yesterday, I wrote about UFOs and picking your project. Today, I write about time. As in, it is fleeting, and madness is taking it's toll.
I have, until this week, been diligently posting weekly how-to’s with adjustments to the basic caftan pattern. This week, I gotta take a step back. After weeks of mad sewing, I looked around and realized House of Raven was in desperate need of cleaning. As in, the scraps and paper bits were gaining depth on the floor. To the point my dogs couldn’t take a step without trailing fabric behind them. Which the cats loved, but ultimately meant my house had reached epic levels of disgusting.
So rather than editing the video for this week, I spent the last week scrubbing the house. This makes me happy personally, as future videos will, hopefully, not have mounds of uncut fabric as background. And unhappy because now I have broken the trend.
But, not all is lost! I have three more planned videos for the caftan going in to summer (Turkish Entari, Persian Coat, Greek homage). Which should be posted in the next three weeks. Then I will be moving on to the next project (progress pics for Costume College…maybe a brief foray in to Silk Painting). And Instagram! Of which I have an account. And rarely post. So figuring that out is high on my to do list.
So I have many balls I am juggling all at once, and to do X I can’t do Y.
And I had to choose cleaning my house over video editing. 24 hours in a day, you have to choose your opportunity costs. The cost of cleaning my house, was no new caftan post today. Ah well. House is clean, video will post next week, and life moves on. Enjoy your weekends dearies, a new sewing week starts tomorrow!
