Spool Stand Accessories

When getting ready to use your spool stand, it’s important to know how to accessorize. Not just for fashionista’s, the right accessory will make sewing with your spool stand much easier. First up, installing the spool stand. The spool stand goes where the lid of the machine is. The lid just lifts straight out, then the spool stand slides in place.

Now that that’s set up, lets talk about the accessories. The Manual tells you which accessories to use with which type of spool. It starts by telling you to use a spool cap that is slightly larger than the spool you’re using. Too big or too small on the cap size, and your threads will tangle or get caught.

Next up, look at your spool size. If you’re using a narrow spool of thread, make sure to put down some spool felt to help stabilize the tiny spool.

Now, if you’re using a cone of thread, use a spool holder. Cones tend to have very wide bases, the spool holder will keep the spool from rolling around itself, causing threads to tangle.

If you are using an oversize cone, in addition to the spool holder, use the spool base and cap to help hold the cone steady while sewing.

If you are using a nylon or metallic thread, or any thread that tends to unwind very rapidly, then use the net that covers the cone. This helps add tension so that the threads, again do not tangle.

The last accessory is only used on threads mounted on the right pin. It’s essentially a tiny little flat washer that helps hold the tension on that thread while sewing.

And that’s it. Pick the right accessory and sewing with the spool stand opens up a variety of options for you and The Machine.
